Abstract | ||
The study aimed to construct a scale for rural development and test its validity and reliability. It also aimed to identify the degree of importance and levels of each dimension of rural development, and to identify the variables associated with and determining each dimension, as well as the respondents' opinions on each dimension of rural development individually and on rural development. This study was conducted in the village of Nub Tarif in the Sinbilawein district of Dakahlia Governorate, which is the district's most developed village. The random sample consisted of 175 respondents. Data was collected using a questionnaire and personal interviews. Data analysis used frequencies, percentages, reliability coefficients, self-reliability coefficients, and stepwise ascending multiple linear regression. The most important results are: The proposed scale for testing the level of rural development was accepted. Regarding the degree and levels of each dimension of rural development, the six dimensions were arranged as follows: social, economic, technological, environmental, political, and finally, access to community services. The percentage explained by each variable in rural development was: 51.3%, 21.1%, 13.4%, 5.9%, 3.8%, and 4.5%, respectively. Two variables significantly contributed to explaining the total variance in respondents' opinions regarding the societal dimension: leadership status and knowledge of development goals, respectively. Two variables significantly contributed to explaining the total variance in respondents' opinions regarding the economic dimension: knowledge of development goals and community awareness, respectively. Two variables significantly contributed to explaining the total variance in respondents' opinions regarding the environmental dimension: knowledge of development goals and community awareness, respectively. Three variables made a significant contribution to explaining the overall variance in respondents' views on rural development: knowledge of development goals, community awareness, and leadership status, respectively. | ||
