Abstract | ||
This paper aims to review and analyze the most significant contemporary trends in curricula and instructional strategies for students with hearing impairments, based on their unique characteristics and specific educational, psychological, and social needs. It begins by examining the nature of hearing impairment and its implications for linguistic, cognitive, emotional, and social development, which generate complex challenges that require specialized pedagogical interventions. Within this framework, the study discusses emerging global trends shaped by technological and societal transformations, such as the development of 21st-century skills—including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving; the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030; the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence applications into instructional practices; and the adoption of blended and interactive learning approaches, including e-learning platforms, interactive digital textbooks, and the use of sign language as a primary medium of instruction. The study further emphasizes the importance of redesigning curricula in alignment with knowledge economy demands, societal values, and labor market requirements. It concludes that curricula and instructional strategies for students with hearing impairments require a comprehensive restructuring in accordance with international quality standards. Achieving this objective necessitates the integration of research-based practices, pedagogical innovation, and technological advancements to ensure equitable, effective educational opportunities that promote inclusion, empower learners, and enable them to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development. | ||
