| Abstract | ||
| يستعرض هذا البحث تكوّن هوية الشتات في رواية تشينوا أتشيبي الأشياء تتداعى، نتيجة للمواجهات متعددة الثقافات بين مجتمع الإيغبو والمستعمرين الأوروبيين. يشرح البحث خلفية التعددية الثقافية وتعريف هوية الشتات، وكيف تُظهِر الرواية الصراع الثقافي الذي تُتحدَّى فيه قيم الإيغبو التقليدية إثر فرض الأيديولوجية الغربية، مما يؤدي إلى مفاوضات صعبة حول الهوية من خلال بطل الرواية، أوكونكو، وابنه، والنضالات الجماعية لمجتمعه، وهم يواجهون فرض الأيديولوجيات الأجنبية، مما يُوضِّح الشعور بالخسارة والاغتراب المتأصل في هويات الشتات. This research explores the formation of diasporic identity in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart as a result of multicultural encounters between the Igbo society and European colonizers. The research illustrates the background of multiculturalism and diasporic identity definitions, and how the novel shows the cultural struggle in which traditional Igbo values are challenged by the imposition of Western ideology, leading to a difficult negotiation of identity through the protagonist, Okonkwo, his son, and the collective struggles of his community as they face the imposition of foreign ideologies, illustrating the sense of loss and alienation inherent in diasporic identities. Multiculturalism, as shown in the novel, causes the fragmentation of both individual and community identities, resulting in a diasporic situation even inside the geographical boundaries of the homeland. The research contends that Achebe depicts the Igbo community as figuratively diasporic, torn between conserving indigenous customs and integrating into a new cultural context.
