Abstract | ||
This research aims to explore the social and environmental evaluation of the role of urban and rural female community leaders in addressing environmental problems. The research problem revolves around assessing the role of these leaders in confronting environmental challenges, especially given the need among many women and girls, whether in villages or cities, for awareness and guidance. The importance of this study also stems from enhancing the researcher's scientific and academic knowledge, aligning with her practical experience in social solidarity and her interaction with female community leaders in associations and health units. The research seeks to identify the role of these leaders in society and the extent to which they contribute to delivering accurate information to urban and rural women to raise awareness of environmental issues and work towards solutions. In line with the research type and objectives, the researcher has employed the descriptive-analytical approach, which is the most appropriate for the nature of this study. The social survey method using a sample was adopted as the most suitable methodology. The researcher also designed two scales for data collection from the study population, integrating both environmental and social dimensions related to the role of urban and rural female leaders in addressing environmental issues in both rural and urban settings. The reliability of the scales was tested using Cronbach's Alpha, and the validity was confirmed through the square root of the Alpha coefficients. The study sample was selected from the local communities in both rural and urban areas. Descriptive and statistical analysis methods were used to illustrate the findings and determine the correlation between research variables. The results revealed that there are statistically significant differences in the first dimension water conservation and rationalization, in favor of the urban sample compared to the rural one. However, there were no significant differences found for the second dimension, food contamination and awareness of pollutants, nor for the overall environmental evaluation score. There were significant differences in the third dimension, home cleanliness again favoring the urban sample. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences found regarding the first social dimension, negative customs and traditions prevailing in the community, in favor of the urban sample over the rural one. This indicates disparities due to the spread of illiteracy and ignorance in rural areas. | ||
