| Abstract: Infrastructure investment represents a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development due to its vital role in promoting economic growth and enhancing social welfare. This study seeks to examine the impact of infrastructure investment on economic and social welfare in Egypt over the period 1990–2022. The analysis employs a quantitative framework through the construction of a composite welfare index that integrates multiple economic and social dimensions, including economic growth, education, health, unemployment, and income distribution. Methodologically, the study combines the descriptive-analytical approach to trace the evolution of infrastructure investment with an econometric analysis using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to test the short- and long-run dynamics between the variables. The empirical findings confirm the existence of a strong and statistically significant relationship between infrastructure investment and the composite welfare index in Egypt. Moreover, the results highlight that increased public spending on infrastructure generates a sustainable improvement in welfare indicators, reflecting both economic gains and social progress. | ||
