Abstract | ||
Background : Because it is inexpensive, radiation-free, and provides real-time information, ultrasound (US) is among the most often used imaging modality in urogynecology. The objective: is to evaluate the degree of agreement between clinical staging and transperineal ultrasound staging. Methods : A comprehensive search of the scientific literature was conducted using the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials databases to find all published research published between the databases' founding and June 2025. This meta-analysis comprised a total of two RCTs. Findings: The POPQ and ultrasonography do not significantly vary in terms of diagnosing the anterior compartment (RR 0.93 with a 95% CI of 0.84 - 1.04), apical prolapse (RR is 1.55 with a 95% CI of 0.75 - 3.19), or the posterior compartment (RR is 0.95 with a 95% CI of 0.83 - 1.09). Conclusion: This study concluded that there was a significant degree of agreement between ultrasound examination, POP-Q, and clinical staging. When diagnosing POP in patients who do not exhibit prolapse on clinical examination, ultrasound may be a more effective method than clinical examination. | ||
