Abstract | ||
Dystopian literature mirrors underlying anxieties and deep-down tensions within individuals and societies. It is a reflection of the collective cultural fear and the unconscious desire for a different future. Dystopia signifies a continuation of life in the aftermath of an apocalypse. Dystopian literature portrays societies with environmental catastrophes, oppressive governments, or technological dominance, which may result in a loss of freedoms and widespread suffering. Technology and science have affected people’s lives and changed who they are; as few of them understand and know how these things are working. The world is more technologically connected than before which means that people will either keep each other afloat or sink together. This research attempts to explore the dystopian societies as represented in Such Is This World@sars.come and Our Country Friends with the purpose of examining the effect of plagues on people’s beliefs, ideas, social structures, value systems, religious and political entities. These works not only offer a critical commentary on contemporary issues but also provide a space for reflection, adaptation, and hope in the face of an uncertain future. | ||
