Abstract: Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) represents a significant and potentially life-threatening complication among critically ill patients The Padua Prediction Score (PPS) is a validated technique for assessing DVT risk in hospitalized medical patients. Understanding the relationship between DVT risk predicted by the PPS and a patient's subsequent capacity to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) link is critical for providing complete patient care and rehabilitation plans .Study aim: to assess the relationship between functional status and Padua predication score for deep venous thrombosis among critical ill patients. Design: descriptive correlational research design. Setting: The study was conducted at general intensive care units at Sohag University Hospitals. Sample: - convenience sample of adult critically ill patients met inclusion criteria. Tools: three main tools were used to collect data, Tool (I): Patient assessment sheet, Tool (II): Functional status assessment , Tool (III):. Padua predication score The Results of the present study revealed that the bulk of the patients were males with ages over fifty. Furthermore, more than half of patients are a low barthel index. Also, more than sixty percent of patients experienced high PPS≥ 4, There were significant negative correlations between Padua predication score for deep venous thrombosis and functional status. Conclusion: functional status play an important role in Padua prediction score of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) among critically ill individuals. Recommendations: Apply Padua prediction score screening routinely for critically ill patients upon admission to the ICU to identify those at high risk for DVT. | ||
