Abstract | ||
Background: Enterobius vermicularis is a common intestinal parasite, particularly in children. This study aimed to determine its prevalence in Tikrit City and assess the related IgE immune response. Method: A cross- sectional study was conducted on 275 children (2-10 years) from three areas of Tikrit. Prevalence was determined by age, sex, and location .Serum IgG levels were measured using ELISA. Results: The overall prevalence of E. vermicularis was 27.3%, with no significant difference between females (31.7%) and males (28.5%) . infection rates were highest in Al-jazeera (46.7%). Children with enterobiasis had significantly higher IgE levels (268.5 ± 23.8) than controls (36.6± 8.1). The highest IgE levels were found in the 5-7 year group (330.40±25.37). Conclusion: E. vermicularis remains prevalent among children in Tikrit, especially in disadvantaged areas, and is associated with elevated IgE levels. Targeted control measures are needed to reduce transmission. | ||
