Abstract | ||
This research paper will investigate the current situation in English language teaching in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the prism of pedagogical linguistics, where the gap between the goals of the educational process and its practical application is considered. The study examines the opportunities and difficulties of the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching in the framework of Saudi Vision 2030 and the overall educational change efforts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This paper uses a systematic review of the available literature, policy reports, and empirical research to discuss the sociolinguistic, cultural, and pedagogical variables that determine the success of the English language learning process in Saudi schools. The results indicate that there exist considerable gaps between the policy goals and the classroom realities that show that there is an extensive need to reform teacher training matters, curriculum development and pedagogical practices. The paper ends by making evidence-based suggestions on how the gap between aspirational objectives and practical practice stubs in Saudi English language education can be addressed. | ||
