Abstract | ||
The Research aimed to determine the level of respondents’ knowledge in the areas of farm environment conservation, as well as to identify their overall cognitive and practical needs in the studied areas of farm environment conservation. Additionally, it sought to determine the relationship between the respondents’ personal variables and their overall cognitive and practical needs in the areas of farm environment conservation. Finally, the Research sought to identify the problems they encounter in the field of farm environment conservation and their proposals for solutions. The research adopted a descriptive methodology using the social survey method with a sample, where 346 farmers were randomly selected from the study area. Data were collected during March and April of 2025 through a questionnaire, and subsequently processed and statistically analyzed using appropriate tools within SPSS software. The most important results were as follows: More than half of the respondents (57%) had a high level of knowledge in the areas of farm environment conservation, while their overall cognitive and practical needs in the studied domains were moderate. There was a significant relationship between the respondents’ overall cognitive and practical needs and variables such as educational level, size of agricultural holding, type of agricultural tenure, number of farm animals, monthly agricultural income, participation in extension activities, years of farming experience, availability of agricultural services, and attitude towards environment conservation. The main challenges facing the respondents in the field of farm environment conservation were the spread of agricultural pests and diseases (90.2%), and their primary suggestion for overcoming these problems was the necessity of involving farmers in the extension programs planning (93.9%). | ||
