| Abstract | ||
| Aim of the study: the aim of the present study is to evaluate the impact of continuous rotation and reciprocation motions on the cleanliness of retreated oval root canals. Materials and methods: This study involved 36 extracted human permanent mandibular first and second premolars with oval shaped canals. Teeth assigned randomly into two groups according to the motion used for removal of filling materials. All teeth were prepared using Edge files up to 35/0.06%. Teeth were divided into two groups according to the motion used for removal of obturating material. Group one: using continuous rotation motion: ProTaper universal retreatment files. Group two: using reciprocation motion: Reciproc. Then teeth were scanned using stereomicroscope to evaluate the cleanliness of the root canals. As well as the time needed for removal of root canal obturating material. Results: the ProTaper system left more remnants in the coronal, middle, and apical thirds than the Reciproc system. And The ProTaper system required significantly more time to remove the root canal filling material than the Reciproc system. Conclusion: Compared to the ProTaper file system, the Reciproc file system is significantly more efficient in removal of root canal filling materials. Additionally, the ProTaper file system took more time to remove the root canal filling material. | ||
