| Abstract | ||
| Background: Intra-hospital transportation plays a crucial role in delivering effective patient care. It involves moving patients between different departments or units within the hospital. Aim: The study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of a teaching program on critical care nurses' performance regarding intra-hospital transportation and patients' outcomes. Design: The research design used was quasi-experimental. Setting: All Intensive Care Units and Emergency Units at Aswan University Hospital, Aswan, Egypt. Subject: The study covered 40 nurses who are currently working in the intensive care unit and Two groups of 30 patients each were formed from 60 patients. Tools: Three tools were utilized for collecting data. Tool (I): Structured Interview. Tool (II): Critical Care Nurses Observational Checklist regarding intra-hospital transportation. Tool (III): Patient outcome assessment tool. Results: Results show that 32.5% of the nurses under study had a satisfactory level of practice pre-program, which developed into 80.0% after the program's implementation; and the overall level of practice and knowledge were positively correlated. Conclusion: The study emphasizes the necessity of developing and implementing teaching programs to enhance nurses’ knowledge and skills in intra-hospital patient transportation, thereby contributing to improved patient outcomes. Recommendations: Incorporate the intra-hospital patient transportation teaching program into critical care nurses' orientation and continuing training to promote consistency in safe transport procedures. | ||
