Abstract Background: Intra-hospital transportation plays a crucial role in delivering effective patient care. It involves moving patients between different departments or units within the hospital. Aim: The study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of a teaching program on critical care nurses' performance regarding intra-hospital transportation and patients' outcomes. Design: The research design used was quasi-experimental. Setting: All ICUs and emergency units at Aswan University Hospital. Subject: The study covered 40 nurses who are currently working in the ICU and Two groups of 30 patients each were formed from 60 patients. Tools: Three tools were utilized for collecting data. Tool (I): Structured Interview Schedule. Tool (II): Critical Care Nurses Observational Checklist regarding intra-hospital transportation. Tool (III): Patient outcome assessment tool. Results: Results show that 15.0% of the nurses under study had a good level of knowledge pre-program, which developed into 72.5% after the program's implementation; 32.5% of the nurses under study had a satisfactory level of practice pre-program, which developed into 80.0% after the program's implementation; and The overall level of practice and knowledge were positively correlated. Conclusion: the study emphasizes the need for teaching programs to improve nurses' performance regarding intra-hospital transportation and patients' outcomes. Recommendations: Incorporate the intra-hospital patient transportation teaching program into critical care nurses' orientation and continuing training to promote consistency in safe transport procedures. | ||
