Abstract | ||
Background: Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) refers to a pregnancy complication involving extreme nausea and vomiting that impair the intake of both liquids and meals. can lead to serious issues such as dehydration, weight loss, and imbalances in electrolytes. Aim: to assess Maternity Nurses' Knowledge and Practice about Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Design: A research design that is descriptive. Setting: was conducted at the Obstetrics, Gynecology Department at Sohag University Hospital. And its Intermittent Care Unite Sample: A convenient sample (47 nurses) Tools: three tools Tool (I): A self-administered structured questionnaire Part (1): Demographic details of the nurses under study. Part (2): Training level assessment of the nurses under study. Tool (II): Knowledge assessment tool. Tool (III): Observational check list for practice. Results: total level of knowledge was moderate level among 74.5% of studied nurses with highly statistical significant difference with p-value (.001).and total level of practice was incompetent level among 91.5% of studied nurses with highly statistical significant difference with p-value (.001).Conclusion: significant positive correlation between Nurses' Knowledge and their Practice with p-value (<0.001*).Recommendations: Develop a health education program and Regular in-service training programs about hyperemesis gravidarum during pregnancy to increase the knowledge and competency of maternity nurses. | ||
