| Abstract | ||
| This research paper examines the role of translation as a pivotal tool for achieving social justice, going beyond its traditional concept as a mere means of transferring meaning between languages. The study asserts that translation is not just a technical process, but a civilizational and creative act that contributes to empowering marginalized communities by enabling access to knowledge and international documents in their native languages. This study aims to analyze translation as an effective mechanism for social change, not merely a linguistic operation. The study addresses translation from several key angles. First, it is a civilizational and creative act that simultaneously contributes to preserving human memory and opening up new horizons for knowledge justice. Second, it focuses on translation's role in achieving social justice by bridging linguistic and cultural gaps, which gives marginalized groups the ability to access essential information and participate in global dialogues. Finally, the study presents the translation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights into the Swahili language as a practical model that illustrates how translation contributes to promoting universal rights in a language that is understandable and accessible to African communities, thereby empowering them to claim their rights. تتناول هذه الورقة البحثية دور الترجمة كأداة محورية لتحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية، متجاوزةً بذلك مفهومها التقليدي كوسيلة لنقل المعنى بين اللغات. تؤكد الدراسة أن الترجمة ليست مجرد عملية تقنية، بل هي فعل حضاري وإبداعي يسهم في تمكين المجتمعات المهمشة من خلال إتاحة الوصول إلى المعرفة والوثائق الدولية بلغاتهم الأم. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل الترجمة باعتبارها آلية فاعلة لإحداث التغيير الاجتماعي، وليس مجرد عملية لغوية. وتتناول الدراسة الترجمة من عدة محاور رئيسية، أولها أنها فعل حضاري وإبداعي يسهم في حفظ الذاكرة الإنسانية وفتح آفاق للعدالة المعرفية في آن واحد. أما المحور الثاني، فيركز على دور الترجمة في تحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية من خلال سد الفجوات اللغوية والثقافية، مما يمنح الفئات المهمشة القدرة على الوصول إلى المعلومات الأساسية والمشاركة في الحوارات العالمية. وأخيرًا، تستعرض الدراسة ترجمة الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان إلى اللغة السواحيلية كنموذج تطبيقي يوضح كيفية مساهمة الترجمة في تعزيز الحقوق الكونية بلغة مفهومة ومتاحة للمجتمعات الإفريقية، مما يمكّنها من المطالبة بحقوقها. | ||
