| Abstract | ||
| Background: Nurses demonstrate a robust work ethic, offering compassionate and dedicated care to everyone. Their sense of social responsibility inspires them to advocate for patients and foster community well-being. Aim: To assess the effect of work ethics on nurses' social responsibilities at Sohag University Hospital. Research design: A descriptive correlational design. Setting: At Sohag University Hospital. Subject: A convenient sample of staff nurses (n=900). Tools: Two tools were used: Tool I: Work Ethics Questionnaire, Tool II: Social Responsibility Questionnaire. Results: There was highly statistically significant correlation( r= .685 p= .000) between work ethics and social responsibility as reported by nurses and direct effect of work ethics on the staff nurses' social responsibility .Conclusion: There were significantly higher means of work ethics toward patients, colleagues and management and work ethics is a predicting factor of nurses' social responsibility. Recommendations: Provide continuous training programs for nurses regarding work ethics in different work settings, develop a strategy to enhance the work ethics and social responsibility through shared governance model. | ||
