Abstract | ||
Bullying is one of the most pressing negative behavioral phenomena affecting contemporary societies, due to its widespread prevalence among children and adolescents in various educational stages and its profound effects on mental health and social adjustment. The impact of bullying becomes more severe when coupled with poor quality of life or when it occurs in socially and economically fragile environments. This study aims to explore the differences in the impact of bullying on psychological traits specifically anxiety, depression, and aggression—as well as suicidal ideation among children, depending on the environments in which they live (urban, rural, or informal settlements). Additionally, the study examines the role of quality of life as a moderating variable that may lessen the intensity of these psychological effects. A comparative descriptive methodology was employed, and standardized psychological measurement tools were used to collect data from a sample of children aged 9 to 12 years who had been exposed to various forms of bullying. The collected data were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods. Results indicated statistically significant differences among the environments studied, with children living in informal settlements showing the highest levels of psychological impact due to bullying, while children in urban environments were the least affected Furthermore, the study found that children who reported a higher quality of life experienced fewer negative psychological outcomes, even when subjected to bullying.The study recommends the development of targeted intervention programs that consider the specific characteristics of each environment, and emphasizes the importance of improving children’s . | ||
