| Abstract | ||
| This study aims to examine the economic dimensions of the livestock sector in Saudi Arabia and analyze its role in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 related to food security and sustainable development. The research relied on data from the “Comprehensive Agricultural Survey 2023” issued by the General Authority for Statistics, in addition to relevant local and international reports. The analysis covered time-series and statistical data on livestock numbers (cattle, sheep, goats, camels), as well as the production of meat, milk, eggs, fish, and honey, in addition to the distribution of farms, barns, carrying capacity, and feed consumption. The results revealed a clear geographical and structural concentration in livestock production, with cattle farms and milk output heavily concentrated in Riyadh and the Eastern Province. The dairy, poultry, and aquaculture sectors demonstrated the strongest growth trends, while red meat and honey production remained relatively stable. Large-scale farms dominated the sector in terms of production and capacity, whereas small and medium-sized farms played only a limited role. The study recommends diversifying the livestock production base by supporting small and medium-sized farms, improving feed efficiency, and adopting modern technologies to enhance productivity. It also emphasizes the importance of achieving greater geographical balance in farm distribution and expanding aquaculture, dairy industries, and value-added livestock products in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. | ||
