| Abstract | ||
| The research aims to study the economic and environmental laws and legislations related to the new Suez Canal axis for the development of both the Canal region and Sinai, and to present the importance of the Suez Canal in Egypt, and to identify its most important characteristics, while clarifying the most important advantages of the Suez Canal region by comparing the old canal and the new canal axis. The status of the Suez Canal was exposed to many threats before the expansion project was launched, and some countries had begun to propose complete or partial alternatives to the canal even if they did not explicitly indicate this, while the expansion of the Suez Canal helped double the canal's capacity for ships passing through the Suez Canal and reduce transit time. The Suez Canal contributed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 31 million tons during 2021 compared to alternative routes, and saving fuel by about 10.3 million tons, and the new Suez Canal contributed to saving 53 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, and the study found a direct relationship between each of the Suez Canal revenues, Suez Canal transit fees as an independent variable, and the gross domestic product as a dependent variable. | ||
