| Abstract | ||
| This paper examines part of the challenges of translating political discourse, showing that it involves much more than replacing words between languages. It explores how political translation requires a deep awareness of the cultural, historical, and ideological background that shapes meaning in both the source and target texts. It highlights how cultural context, ideology, and tone can affect meaning, and discusses the limits of relying on technology in such sensitive work. The discussion also considers the translator’s role in maintaining accuracy, neutrality, and ethical responsibility when dealing with politically charged or emotionally loaded material. The paper concludes that political translators serve as cultural mediators and ethical guardians whose choices influence how political messages are understood across nations. By combining linguistic skill with cultural awareness, the translator contributes not only to accurate communication but also to mutual understanding and dialogue between different political and cultural communities. The present paper is derived from the author’s PhD thesis in Translation Studies at Fayoum University. | ||
