| Abstract | ||
| The primary objective of this research was to analyze the utilization of social media by rural women as a source of information for development purposes. the study aimed to achieve the following specific objectives concerning rural women's interaction with the studied social media platforms in terms of: a) Assess the Efficacy of the source. b) The degree of reliance on it (Utilization). c. Degree of trust in it (accuracy and credibility). Determine the significance of the relationship between the respondents' characteristics and their overall degree of utilization of social media for the designated development areas. Research Context: The study was conducted in Tanta Center. Gharbia Governorate. utilizing a sample drawn from three villages: Sabtas. Shuni. and Kafr al-Sheikh Salim. The population framework included a total of 8.676 rural households. Based on the Krejcie and Morgan formula. the required sample size was determined to be 354 rural households. To achieve the study's objectives. a structured questionnaire was specifically designed for female heads of households in the study area. Data were collected from the sample via personal interviews with randomly selected respondents across three villages studied during July and August 2025. A combination of descriptive and analytical statistical methods was employed for data processing. The study yielded two principal findings: - A majority of rural women reported an average level of utilization of social media as an information source Specifically. the proportion reporting an average level was 43.8% for availability. 46.3% for actual utilization. and 50.3% for credibility/trust. - A statistically significant relationship was established between rural women's degree of social media utilization and the following independent variables: age. education level. family size. duration of household internet. cognitive interaction. family communication. innovation. | ||
