| Abstract | ||
| This study examines the role of AI in Egyptian women’s platforms and how they work to change false images about women. The research analyses a key question at the crossover between media, gender and technology: if AI-based systems are tools promoting empowerment and inclusivity, or instead they reproduce previous social and cultural discrimination. Material and methods Descriptive analytic approach was used; a control questionnaire based on subjective questionnaires administered to 202 Egyptian women of different age, educational level, marital status and from urban and rural areas. The results paint (if I can use that term) a complex and somewhat contradictory picture. This reflects a reluctance among around half of the respondents to switch from traditional platforms to an AI-supported one (despite their approval of it—on restatement—because they introduced material that is new and personalized). More significantly, 57% felt that AI tools marginalize rather than enable women’s roles in the digital space indicating a general sense of wariness about the increasing dominance of such tools in women’s media. | ||
