| Abstract | ||
| Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of liver cancer and one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths and remains a major burden on healthcare systems worldwide. The incidence of HCC continues to rise globally, despite preventative efforts being made. Aim of the study: to assess the educational needs for patients with HCC. Study Design: A descriptive exploratory design was utilized for the conduction of this study. Setting: This study was conducted at Tanta Cancer Center affiliated to Specialized Medical Centers in Egypt. Subjects: A purposive sample of 52 patients with HCC. Tools: Patient’s interviewing questionnaire. Result: The study showed that 73.1% of studied patients had unsatisfactory total level of knowledge regarding hepatocellular carcinoma. Conclusion: About three-quarters of the studied patients had an unsatisfactory level of total knowledge about HCC. Additionally, there was statistically significant relation between total level of patients’ knowledge and socio-demographic characteristics regarding educational level. Recommendations: Developing comprehensive educational programs tailored to the specific needs and literacy levels of patients with HCC. | ||
