| Abstract | ||
| Recent developments in the European Union’s pesticide legislation, driven by the Farm to Fork Strategy, have reshaped global trade dynamics for agricultural commodities. The introduction of stricter Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) and the withdrawal of numerous active substances pose significant challenges for exporting countries, particularly Egypt, whose agricultural exports to the EU represent a vital economic sector. This commentary examines how these legislative updates influence Egypt’s export competitiveness, highlighting the link between EU regulatory shifts, Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF 2020-2025) notifications, and the upcoming Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). It also outlines national strategies for alignment with European sustainability and pesticide compliance requirements. | ||
