| Abstract | ||
| The world today faces challenges in achieving sustainable environments, especially through design. Simulation software supports sustainability by helping reduce environmental impacts. One key issue affecting building sustainability is noise from surrounding activities, which influences indoor spaces. Designing sustainable soundscapes in outdoor areas is essential for creating healthy acoustic environments. The research identifies a gap in tools that connect acoustic design with environmental sustainability. It explores how environmental simulation programs can enhance soundscape planning and sustainability. The study focuses on a university building in Egypt (Misr University for Science and Technology) and employs three environmental simulation programs (dBmap.net, iNoise, and Autodesk Forma) to analyze how simulation helps improve the acoustic environment by modeling the existing situation and testing sustainable soundscape strategies (such as barriers, green areas, and water surfaces). Indicators were developed to measure soundscape elements using simulation tools. Results highlight the importance of simulation in creating sustainable acoustic designs and guiding early decisions. The study recommends expanding the use of these tools across Egypt with citizen participation. | ||
