| Abstract | ||
| Preliminary phytochemical screening of Tabebuia pentaphylla hemsl. Revealed the presence of sterols and/or triterpenes, flavonoids and iridoids. From the hexane extract of the leaves a-amyrin, b-sitosterols, betulin, betulinic acid, oleanolic acid and a long chain alcohol were isolated. Whill kaempferol, quercetin, kaempferol-3-O-diaglicoside and quercetin-3-O-diglucoside were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract. Specioside (6-O-coumatyl catalpol) and oleanolic acid were isolated from ethyl acetate extract of the bark. The cytotoxicity tests of some isolated compounds were carried out on cell cultures of p-388 and KB cells. The results obtained showed some positive significances. | ||
