| Abstract | ||||
| Energy resources have developed from Conventional Energy resources such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas, to renewable energy resources such as solar and wind energies. These resources have environmental and economic problems. According to the capabilities provided by these resources of energy, the industrial design products have been developed to be multi-function products to add value to the products and achieve more prosperity to the users. This product development especially household ones, makes products more energy consuming. Although the product development occurs very fast; the search for energy resources requires long time. Therefore the energy problems need a new vision to cope with future circumstances. This research aims to utilize the Functional Energy which results from industrial design products especially household products during its operation. Then convert it to electric energy using the electric generator. That makes the products as energy- generating instead of being only energy consuming. The research assumes that the utilization of the functional capacities of some products makes them a source of energy that can be utilized. This can be done by modifying the design of the household products, so that the electric motor of the product is combined with an electric generator to be one compact unit with one drive shaft between the motor and the generator. This research focused on many wasted energies around us. There are some proposals to take advantage of the functional energies resulting from many sources, which result in mechanical energy. The first one is taking advantage of road traffic to save energy by putting bumps called "energy-generating bumps", and when the cars passed on it, the rotary motion can be converted to electric energy, and then it is stored in a battery. The second one is utilization of the mechanical movement of trains, by installing generators along the track of trains. The third one is making use of water piping to generate energy in the home by utilizing the mechanical movement of water in the pipes. The forth one is the rotary power generation door, by installing an electric power generators at the top of the rotor door, and upon the entry and exit of the people, the rotary mechanical movement of the rotary door moves to the power generators installed at the top of the door, resulting in the generation of electrical energy stored in the battery. In conclusion, the utilization of the Functional Energy resulting from industrial design products makes the products as energy-generating instead of being energy consuming only, thus achieving the optimal utilization of the functional energies especially house hold products | ||||
