Abstract | ||||
In the past, old Arab cities had a strong identity and distinctive urban and architectural characteristics. Nowadays, some of those characteristics are still visible in the historical urban texture showing Arab architecture’s great adaptability to environmental and social circumstances. However, the rapidly changing lifestyle can affect urban form and built heritage of those cities, that’s why redevelopment and reconstruction projects pose a real threat to city’s identity. Therefore, this paper aims to observe the change in urban identity of Aleppo city through analysing the result of modern interventions to achieve a better understanding of what causes the transformation of urban identity. | ||||
