Abstract | ||||
Al-Darb Al-Ahmar area is the most important historic areas in Cairo city in order to fit on many archaeological and historical buildings from different eras as well as it includes old buildings and houses with distinct value in style and decoration architecture, the area has exposed to the deterioration and neglect for many years. So the Aga Khan foundation and other common entities have to intervene in the area in the form of various development programs, and by contributing to the revival and development project of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar area as one of the most important local experiments in the conservation on the historical areas. However, the conservation experiment also did not continue due to several factors led to the deterioration of the area again, and thus this experiment needs to analyze and evaluate to ensure the continuity of intervention policies from the perspective of the three sustainability fields (urban -economic-social). One of the strategic analysis tools has been using - Based on statistics and surveys' the development of Darb El Ahmar community Company conducted by region and personal interviews from researchers with the responsible for the area to monitor the ongoing variables - -which is a quartet analysis (SWOT). Where it can be applied to urban, economic and social fields which are used by many Arab and foreign countries in the successful conservation historical areas projects to ensure its sustainability and it is qualified to indicate the positive and negative experience aspects and thus benefit from it in similar experiences to conservation on the historical areas in Egypt. | ||||
