| A field experiment was conducted during the two successive seasons of 2006 / 2007 and 2007 / 2008 at the Nursery of ornamental plants, Fac. Agric. Minia Univ. to investigate the effect of compost (0.0, 4, 8 and 12 t / fed.) and biofertilizers treatments (phosphorein and / or E.M.) on corm production and chemical constituents of Gladiolus grandiflorus cv. Eurovision. The obtained results indicated that, corm diameter, number of cormels / plant, dry weight of corm and cormels as well as chemical constituents including total chlorophyll, percentages of N, P and K in the leaves, N, P, K and total sugars contents in corm were gradually increased by increasing the levels of compost. All biofertilizer treatments significantly increased corm production and chemical constituents parameters in comparison to the control plant, Phosphorein + E.M. treatment was more effective in this concern. The interaction between compost and biofertilization treatments was significant with the highest values for corm production and chemical constituents were obtained due to compost at 12 t / fed. in combination with phosphorein + E.M. | ||||
