Abstract | ||||
The present study aimed to identify the characteristics of the studies tried to treat dyslexia at the primary stage and determine the effect size of the experimental treatments utilized in such studies. Additionally, the study sought to calculate the difference between the effect size in these studies according to the descriptive classifications that result from the initial analysis. The database that was collected in the light of the defined acceptance and exclusion determinants included 52 studies, which were initially analyzed in the light of a form for coding these studies after assuring their validity and reliability via the appropriate methods. The results of the initial analysis of the studies and research revealed a number of characteristics and descriptive features related to the types of treatments used. Based on that, the studies were classified into two categories, one of which used educational programs in treatment, and the second one used teaching strategies. The results of the meta-analysis based on the Hedges and Olkin method of calculating both the size effect and the homogeneity between studies, revealed that the mean size of the overall effect of these studies was large. In addition, the size effect of experimental treatments used in the studies and research that adopted both the educational programs and the teaching strategies, was large. Nevertheless, the Z value of the difference between the effect size of the two categories of the studies was significant. Consequently, the study described the differences between them based on the experimental treatment used. | ||||
