Abstract | ||||
Little work has been done on pedestrians and cyclists as a viable form of transport in urban areaes to assess their characteristics and their interaction with traffic. Software designed for motor vehicles and are not appropriate for modeling pedestrians and cyclists sharing the traffic this road space in busy shopping areas within the (C.B.D) of towns. There are distinct incompatibilities between traffic characteristics and pedestrians & cyclists behaviour. In this paper an attempt has been made to assess the interaction of both pedestrians and cyclists with traffic flow through a study in urban area (Assiut City C.B.D). Recommended values for pedestrians and bicycles equivalency factors are given for planning applications to enable the best utilization of transport facilities. | ||||
