Abstract | ||||
Abstract A healthcare–associated infection (nosocomial infection) is an infection that is acquired in any health care facility. This infection can be acquired in hospital, nursing home, diagnostic laboratory,outpatient clinic, rehabilitation facility or other clinical settings. Infection is spread to the patient in the health care facility in different ways. Medical staff also spread infection, beside contaminated equipment,air droplets or bed linens. The infection can be developed from the outside environment, staff that may be infected or another infected patient, or in some cases, the source of the infection cannot be specified. In some cases the microorganism originates from the patient's skin microbiota, becoming opportunistic after surgery or other procedures that compromise the protective skin barrier. Although the patient may have contracted the infection from their own skin, the infection is still considered nosocomial because it develops in the health care facility.(2) Our aim is to reduce risk of health care acquired infections in (Tadamun Hospital) hospital to ensure patient safety. The implementation of quality tools like brain storming, fish bone diagram and chek list help us to identify the most influential cause of hospital acquired infection and to create an action plan for problem solving and continuous improvement. | ||||
