| Abstract | ||||
| This investigation studies the relationship between food habits and cardiovascular diseases . The sample was (180) patients chosen from Makkah hospitals . The data were collected by a questionnaire it contained several parameters including the socioecpnomic status, anthropometric measurements , food habits, cooking methods, food intake during (24) hours. The results showed that 2/3 of the sample were males and they aged from 41-60 years old, over 50% of the sample had low income, 50% from patients were over weight. most of the patients were smoking cigarettes before the disease but they stopped after that. Over (%50) of the patients were eaten fatty meat, full fat milk and milk products, less then 1/3 sample only ate Fish. The most cooking methods were frying. The results showed that ate small amounts from vegetables , fruits, cereals. They used oil then shee. Over (%50) of the patients were arunk patients coffee and tea. The study showed that a relationship existed between total calories, weight, food habits and cardiovascular diseases.The patients were suffering from hypercholestrolemia, high level of triglycerides, and low-density lipoproteins , but low level of high-density lipoproteins. The lipids levels were the highest in overweight males patients. | ||||
