Abstract | ||||
This study comes in the framework of the interest in the new roles of the libraries and librarians in the digital environment. New concept of the digital citizenship and its related subjects such as digital health and digital rights was discussed. addition, the contribution of the central library of Cairo university in the enhancement of the awareness of the digital citizenship. The theoretical part of the study surveyed the literature on the digital citizenship and the role of libraries in raising awareness. The aims of the study were as follow: 1- Shed the light on Arabic legislation of information security and the consideration of the digital citizenship, as these legislations represent the controlling factor in the digital environment. 2- Examining the activities of central library and how it is related to the digital development. 3-the role of the information specialist in learning the digital citizenship and its related subject. 4- to how extent the information specialist is acquainted with digital citizenship < br> The study adopted the descriptive analysis mixed approach. Focus groups, content analysis and questionnaire represented the experimental tools of the study. The collected data was subjected to the statically analysis. Results of the study could be summarized as follow: there is awareness of the digital citizenship in the study population with variations in the elements of the subject. the lack in the awareness of information specialist in Cairo university of the Arabic legislations of information security and roles of digital protection. | ||||
