Abstract | ||||
Study aim: To identify experiences and challenges among Pediatrics Intensive Care Units nurses during COVID 19 crisis. Study design: the descriptive qualitative design was used. Setting: This study carried out at all Pediatrics Intensive Care Units (PICU) in Port Said hospitals. Study subject: Snowball sampling of (115) Pediatric nursing staff worked In PICU in Port Said hospitals have participated in this study from the beginning of November 2020 to the beginning of February 2021.Data collection tools: a semi-structured electronic form applied to Pediatrics nursing staff in PICU. Two tools were used in the study, tool I: Assessment interview questionnaire sheet composed of two parts, socio-demographic data of pediatric ICU nursing staff & nurses’ experiences during the COVID 19 crisis. Tool II: Challenges faced pediatrics ICU nursing staff during COVID 19 crisis. Results: Most (87%) of pediatrics ICU nursing staff during the COVID 19 crisis faced a high challenges that high percentages (97.1%) of them faced moral challenges followed by social, psychological challenges, challenges related to the nature of the disease, challenges related to staff and resources deficiency then physical challenges (93.9%, 92.2%, 91.3%, 90.4%, 88.7%) respectively. The pediatrics nurses 'experiences indicated higher statistical significance regarding means of transportation, providing care for suspected and confirmed patients with p. value challenges that high percentages of them faced moral challenges followed by social, psychological challenges, challenges related to nature of the disease, challenges related to staff and resources deficiency then physical challenges. As well as, nurses 'experiences during COVID19 crisis was indicated higher statistically significant with total challenges regarding means of transportation, providing care for suspected and confirmed patient. Recommendations: Researches should be conducted to enhance knowledge on COVID-19 prevention and management& thus manipulation the challenges, experiences, and troubles faced by nursing staff during crises. | ||||
