Abstract | ||||
The genus Helicometra Odhner, 1902 (Trematoda : Digenea : Opecoelidae) was briefly reviewed. The digeneans now referred to H. marmoratae Nagaty and Abdel-Aal, 1962 and H. nasae Nagaty and Abdel-Aal, 1962 were collected from their original fish hosts at Hurgada, Red sea, Egypt. These species are redescribed in details and figured. The given redescriptions are broadened and revealed that H. marmoratae is actually a synonym ofH. pulcheHa (Rudolphi, 1819) Odhner, 1902 (the type species of the genus), while H. nasae is actually a synonym of H. equilala (Manter. 1933) Siddiqi and Cable, I960. However, the misidentification of these species was discussed. | ||||
