Abstract | ||||
The purpose of the present research is to choose a suitable resistance formula for the local conditions of unlined open channels. This was achieved by using a mathematical model for El-Mansoura canal, east of delta, Fig.(1). To construct the numerical model field data were collected and analysed. Manning's equation could be used for design purposes on the condition that Manning's coefficient varies between 0.024 and 0.026, Cole-brook's formula for smooth turbulent flow gave the best accurate simulated depth and discharge values by using a modified factor. | ||||
