Abstract | ||||
The importance of the research is showing the extent to which human memory is related to many architectural and natural features. The research dealt with Mediterranean architecture, so its blocks are distinguished by simplicity. The Four Seasons Hotel in Alexandria, Egypt, reflects the spirit of the Mediterranean designs, especially within the hotel's restaurant spaces. The research problem lies in the insufficient interest in studying and analyzing the Mediterranean style as an architectural style within the contemporary interior architecture of residences and hotels on the shores of the Mediterranean coast, which has a great impact on sustainable tourism development in Egypt. The research aims to try to understand the characteristics of Mediterranean architecture that mix between internal and external spaces. As well as considering the local environmental character of the sites where hotels are established and trying to revive the architecture related to the traditions in the Arab region of the Mediterranean basin and its close connection with the surrounding nature. The research exposed the concept of Mediterranean architecture, presented models for two restaurants inside the hotel understudy, and reviewed the distinctive features and characteristics of the style and the extent to which the interior design of restaurants relates to the style through a descriptive-analytical approach, then the results were presented and discussed wherein. The research was able to conclude that the Mediterranean style is a flexible method that allows mixing modern elements and materials in it. | ||||
