Abstract | ||||
This paper describes a method for predicting the unsteady axisymmetric air flow in a deep bowel combustion chamber of the direct injection diesel engine during the compression stroke. The governing equations are the continuity and the momentum equations. A movable coordinate system is used in which these equations are transformed. For the numerical simulation a finite difference algorithm developed by the authors is used in which two different staggard, two dimensional and movable grids are used for the vector and scalar variables. The pressure is described indirectly through the continuity equation and the ADI-method is used for the interation of it. A computer program EBSTR is made and used for the numerical computation. The computed results which are drawn with the use of EBSTR are used to show the main characteristics of the flow. | ||||
