Abstract | ||||
Abstract Background: The World Health Organization has declared Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) a pandemic. Controlling its spread is being attempted at both the global and national levels. Aim: the aim of this study was to determine the effect of teaching guidelines on knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding covid19 among the first year nursing students. Subjects and method: Aquasi experimental design with pre –post assessment was used to conduct the study. Setting: The study was conducted at Faculty of Nursing, Zagazig University. Subject: Students in first year at Faculty of Nursing, Zagazig University (286 from 800 students). Tool: data collected, by used an Interview form: included student's characteristics, COVID-19 knowledge, questions regarding attitudes toward COVID-19, as well as preventive measures and infection control about personal hygiene and infection control, an observational checklist regarding technique of using mask, and hand-washing. Results: There was a significant improvement of student's knowledge score post guidelines. Also there was a significant improvement of their practice, and the majority of them had positive attitude toward COVID-19. Conclusion, there was a strong positive correlation between total student's knowledge, attitude, and their reported practice regarding COVID-19 with highly statistically significant differences (P=000). Recommendation, Application of the current Coronavirus preventive health programs at all other nursing faculties in Egypt to raise their knowledge and enhance their attitude. | ||||
