Abstract | ||||
During a survey in order to study the parasitofauna of wild birds in Upper Egypt, microfilariae were encountered in a white throat rufous, Erythropygia q. galactotes which was cap < /strong>tured near Assiut city. The microfilariae were illustrated, fully desc ribed and compared with related sp < /strong>ecies. It was found to differ from all of them in certain morphological features and accordingly, it was considered to be a hitherto unknown sp < /strong>ecies to which the name Microfilaria galactotes is suggested. It is the first time for this species or any other sp < /strong>eceis to be described from Erythropygia 9. galactotes. | ||||
