Abstract | ||||
Hypoglycemic effect of two dietary f.bers I e , wheat bran and barley hulls were s:ud:ed on diabetc rats Materials were chemically analyzed Drabetes were induced usrng alloxan Rats were fed either with barley hull or wnea: bran at two levels of 2 9'2 or 5% cf the :let Body wezght and organs weight, level of blood glucose during experimert liver and Kldfley functions and lipid fractions were determined The resu‘ts shot-Jed that feeding diets flC.“ fibers recuce the loss of body weight in diabetic rats Plasma glucose of diabetic rats was decreased due to feeding diets rich fibers, and the effect of barley hull was the better than that of wheat bran The data revealed also that feeding hypoglycemic diets increased albumin content and reduced all of urea, blood cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL-cholesterol in diabetic rats Generally, there was an improvement in the health of diabetic animals due to fiber containing feed. which act as hypoglycemic agent of diabetic animals under study | ||||
