| Abstract | ||||
| لعبت عناصر الامداد والتموين دورا حاسما في الصراع الحربي المرير أثناء الحرب العالمية الأولى (1914-1918)، حيث کانت امدادات الغذاء والمياه، وکذلک الاسعاف الطبي الميداني، وجهود نقل واجلاء المصابين؛ عناصر قلبت الموازين ورجحت کفة فريق دون الآخر، بما خالف توقعات العسکريين، وتصوراتهم التقليدية لعمليات الإمداد العسکري وکيفية حسم نتائج المعارک الحربية، بل وبالمخالفة أحيانا لاعتبارات التسليح، أو القدرات الاستراتيجية. وکان توافر المياه العذبة أحد العناصر الحاسمة في مراحل الصراع بين بريطانيا وترکيا وعلى الجبهة الشرقية بشکل خاص. فالقتال المرير الذي استمر لأربع سنوات في صحراوات مصر والشام، کشف بشکل واضح عن مدى تأثير ندرة المياه العذبة على أداء القوات المتحاربة، واحتياج الجنود العطشى إلى إمدادات وفيرة؛ تساعدهم على تحمل مشقة الحرب في صحراء سيناء، وفلسطين، وسوريا الکبرى. ويناقش هذا البحث مدى تأثير توافر أو ندرة المياه العذبة على مسارات وتحولات الصراع العسکري الأنجلو- عثماني في صحراء سيناء أثناء الحرب العالمية الأولى. ويستعرض البحث المشروعات التي قامت بها القيادة البريطانية في مصر؛ من أجل ضم المياه العذبة إلى عناصر تفوقها، أو على الأقل محاولة تحييدها أثناء الصراع الضاري الذي بدأ بالهجوم الترکي على قناة السويس، ثم تطور إلى الحملة العسکرية المعروفة باسم "حملة سيناء". ومن خلال دراسة أحداث وملابسات الحرب العالمية الأولى خاصة في شرق البحر المتوسط، نجد أن تلک الحرب قد جمعت جنودا وقوات أتوا من بلاد لم تعرف حروب الصحراء أو العطش وندرة المياه. وسابق البريطانيون الزمن والظروف الطبيعية المعقدة، مستغلين العمال المصريين والجنود الهنود والاستراليين وغيرهم لتحقيق هدفهم؛ ألا وهو التوغل شرقا نحو مقرات القوات الترکية في فلسطين وسوريا، وازاحة مسرح القتال بعيدا عن قناة السويس ووادي النيل؛ هذا الهدف الذي کان يبدو مستحيل التحقيق في ظل الظروف البيئية الوعرة في شمال شرق مصر وجنوب الشام. ومن خلال هذه الدراسة؛ يتضح الاهتمام الفائق بالمياه العذبة کعنصر فارق وحاسم في صراع مصيري، ترتب عليه اسقاط امبراطورية بأکملها، وتغيير خريطة الشرق الأوسط ککل. Abstract: The elements of supplies and subsistence played a decisive role in the conflict between the British and the Ottoman Empire during the First World War (1914-1918), as food and water supplies, as well as field medical aid and efforts to evacuate the injured were elements that tipped the scales and favoured the British and their allies during the Sinai and Palestine campaigns and ended with the crushing defeat of the coalition Turkish, German and Austrian in Egypt and the Levant. The availability of fresh water was one of the decisive elements in this conflict, as the bitter fighting that lasted for four years in the deserts of Egypt and the Levant in the eastern Mediterranean highlighted the impact of the scarcity of fresh water on the competence of the conflicting forces and the need of thirsty soldiers for abundant supplies to help them withstand the hardship of war in the desert. The animals also needed those supplies of horses and camels that had a role in the battle, in addition to transporting food, water, equipment, the wounded and camp supplies. The bragging of the number of soldiers and their equipment was necessarily followed by the question of how to provide for their essential needs of water and food as they tirelessly walked across hundreds of kilometres in an arid desert. The research reviews the projects and steps, whether limited or major, that the British leadership took in Egypt to ensure fresh water in the elements of its superiority or at least attempt to neutralize it during the fierce conflict that began with the Turkish attack on the Suez Canal and then developed into the military campaign known as the "Sinai Campaign." The main task entrusted to the British forces in eastern Egypt was to defend the Suez Canal and repel any possible attack by the Turkish forces stationed in Palestine and the Levant towards the most important waterway for Britain's commercial interests and to link its eastern colonies with Europe. | ||||
