Abstract | ||||
Two Schiff bases derivatives from 1,8- diaminooctane namely: N,N\-bis-(phenylmethylene)-1,8-diaminooctane (SB1) and N,N\-bis-(2-hydroxyphenylmethylene)-1,8-diaminooctane (SB2) have been prepared and investigated as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in 1 M HCl using weight loss, electrochemical (Potentiodynamic Polarization and Electrochemical Impedance ) measurements, SEM and EDX methods. They show good corrosion inhibition efficiency with the inhibition efficiency of SB2 being higher than that of SB1. The results obtained indicate that both inhibitors act as mixed type inhibitors. They follow Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The results obtained from the polarization technique are in good agreement with those obtained from weight loss method. | ||||
