Abstract | ||||
This study was conducted on 1604 Saudi male primary school children (6-12 years of age) from different areas of Makkah city. Blood samples were analyzed, to determine the frequency of various haemoglobins electrophoretically. Abnormal haemoglobins were detected among 68 children (6.2%) having haemoglobin A,F,S,and A2. The frequencies of haemoglobin A & S (AS phenotype) among different areas of the city were found to be: 51.5% in Al-Mansour St., in Sh.Al-Haj 23.5%, in Outaibia 11.7%, in Nawriah 7.4%,in Sharaya 4.4%, and in Azizia 1.5%. | ||||
