Abstract | ||||
Consumer finance is an economic activity concerned with managing cash by one of the financial institutions licensed by the Financial Supervisory Authority to cover the expenses of owning and buying consumer goods by granting credit in the form of a short and medium-term cash loan, and the consumer finance contract is only the legal means and tool to achieve this. The Egyptian legislator has defined consumer finance - according to the new Law No. 18 of 2020 - as: every activity that aims to provide financing allocated for the purchase of goods and services for consumer purposes whenever it is practiced as usual, and includes financing through commercial payment cards or one of the payment methods approved by the bank.
