Abstract | ||||
The research aimed to analysis the efficiency of irrigation water use in the production of the most important water-consuming crops in Egypt by studying the economic efficiency indicators and estimating the production efficiency of the most important water-consuming agricultural crops in Egypt, namely Wheat, Sugar Beet, Rice, Maize, and Sugar cane to reach the best levels standards for productive efficiency in the irrigation water. The research applied Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) as one of the linear programming methods that are used to measure production efficiency as a non-parametric mathematical model to find the boundary efficiency curve for a group of similar production units and measure their performance and decision-making. The results showed that the sugar Beet crop is considered the most efficient crop of irrigation water use and achieved a net return for the water unit amounting reached 1402 pounds over the period (2003-2019). It also achieved the highest productivity per unit of irrigation water, which amounted 8.81 tons, and it is the lower crop needs irrigation water per ton. | ||||
