Abstract | ||||
This study aimed to investigate the awareness, knowledge, practice, and educational needs regarding molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) among dental interns in Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. Methodology: A questionnaire was distributed for 190 dental interns, encompassing multiple questions regarding demographic data, awareness, knowledge, etiology, diagnosis, and educational needs of MIH. Results: About 67.0% of all the participants were aware of MIH while only 33.0% of the participants were not. 52.1% of the interns did not know the clinical feature of MIH and could not be able to diagnose MIH. Most participants chose genetic factors as the main etiological factor. A high percentage of participants 83.7% have never treated an MIH patient before. The majority of participants (88.4%) suggested including MIH-associated case studies in the undergraduate curriculum topics. Conclusions: Molar incisor hypomineralization is a challenging dental condition faced by dental interns in Egypt. Therefore, clinical training including MIH diagnosis, etiological factors and management is needed. | ||||
