Abstract | ||||
Conclusion The aims for this studies to conducting an integration between sedimentology and conventional core analysis for core samples from Bentiu Formation, lower Cretaceous in Muglad basin which is one of the most prospective hydrocarbon basins in Sudan. A total of 19m of core has been described sedimentologically and summarized at different scales, The cored interval of the Bentiu Formation comprise dominantly sandstones with subordinate quantities of siltstones and clay stones. In the present study the sedimentological studies indicate that there are two Lithofacies nominated as Lithofacies 1 and Lithofacies 2. Petrographically, most of the analysed samples are well compacted, silt and poorly to well sorted subfeldspathic and quartz arenites with minor feldspathic and subfeldspathic wackes and sublithic arenites Conventional core analysis procedures were investigated to validate data quality and accuracy, the objective of every coring operation is to gather information that leads to more efficient oil or gas production. | ||||
